Winner of O'Fallon's Healthy Living Story-writing Contest announced

Congratulations to Warren Elementary School student Carissa Carron for winning O'Fallon's "Healthy Living Story-writing Contest."

The City of O’Fallon has announced the winner of its Healthy Living Story-writing Contest for kids in grades K – 5. Carissa Carron, a fourth-grader at Warren Elementary School in St. Peters, won the contest with her original story, “Food Fight.”

To enter, students were required to write a positive story that put the focus on healthy living, fitness, eating well, making safe choices, protecting the environment, or any other health-related topic.

Carissa’s story is being adapted for the stage by Monkey Tales Theatre. The production will make its debut at the Renaud Spirit Center’s RSC Fitness Festival on Saturday, May 4, 2013. The play will also be performed at Carissa’s school. Monkey Tales is a professional, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) theater group geared to entertaining kids with performances that teach acceptance and responsibility.
