O’Fallon’s "National Day of Service and Remembrance" includes projects, blood drive

In memory of the heroes and victims of the attacks of September 11, 2001, residents are invited to actively participate in the National Day of Service and Remembrance on Saturday, September 7. Participation is sponsored by O’Fallon’s Volunteer Services Department.

Saturday’s event has three components: Citizens United in Service, the Patriot Blood Drive and the Support Our Troops Supply Drive.

Citizens United in Service will be held from 9 - 11 a.m. at various locations around O’Fallon. Sign up to help with projects that honor and support local first responders and overseas military troops. Pre-registration is required; register at www.ofallon.mo.us.

·         Clean the monuments and green space at Veterans Memorial Walk

·         Collect litter along Veterans Memorial Parkway,

·         Sort and box donated items for shipment to U.S. troops deployed overseas

·         Write and decorate “thank you” cards for military members and their families

 

The Patriot Blood Drive will be held from 9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the O’Fallon Municipal Centre (City Hall), 100 North Main Street, O’Fallon, MO 63366. Walk-ins are welcome! Take just a few minutes to save a life or three through a donation of blood.

 O’Fallon Municipal Centre is one of the primary collection sites for the Support Our Troops Supply Drive, which continues through Saturday, September 7. Drop off personal care items, batteries, and small packages of snacks, or donate to the Stamp of Support campaign, payable to H.E.R.O.E.S. Care, to cover $13.45 per box of supplies for deployed troops.
