There’s still time to apply for O’Fallon’s zero-interest Home Improvement Loan Program

The City of O’Fallon has extended the deadline for its Home Improvement Loan Program of forgivable loans to low-to-middle- income O’Fallon homeowners who are in need of home repairs.

“This is a great program for low-income O’Fallon homeowners who need major help with home maintenance,” said Jessica Hawkins, O’Fallon’s Public Assistance Specialist. “Eligible home repairs include the repair and replacement of air conditioning and furnace units, water heaters, sump pumps, windows, siding, roofs and other improvements. The loans can’t be used for new construction, appliances or security alarm systems.”

The loans of up to $5,000 will be made on a first come, first-served basis until all loans are filled. Space is limited, so don’t miss this opportunity! To qualify for a loan, applicants must:

·         Have owned and occupied the house to be improved for at least one year

·         Be U.S. citizens or legal aliens (but not newly-legalized)

·         Have a low-to moderate-income.

·         Be current on mortgage payments and real estate taxes, and have no pending bankruptcies or outstanding federal, state or city tax liens.
