Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 458 to exhibit soldiers’ field equipment, memorabilia

Get ready for Veterans’ Day by stepping into the historic Heald Home (circa 1884) from 1 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, and chatting with Vietnam-era veterans about the exhibit of military uniforms, a field radio, C-rations, weapons, ammunition and memorabilia that will be on display for the afternoon. The weapons and ammunition are inert and cannot be fired.

“This is a hands-on display,” said Sheldon Hartsfield, spokesperson for VVA Chapter 458. “People will be able to pick the items up and even put on a helmet and field gear and see for themselves how much weight we used to carry running through the jungle.”

The Heald Home is located in Fort Zumwalt Park,1000 Jessup Drive, O’Fallon, Missouri 63366. Admission is $2 per person at the door. For more information, call 636-379-5614 or email jhoisington@ofallon.mo.us.
