Suggestion on Civic Park

As a long time resident of the city of O'Fallon I would love to see something tied to our railroad history put in our oldest city park. Before the city decides to put a workout/fitness center in there, I think the residents need to speak up about the "fading" history of our city. Before we know it, anything that has historical significance to the city of O'Fallon will be gone! I would love to see a structure to replace Civic Hall that resembles a train depot, and then create an Ice Skating Trail that winds through the beautiful trees. The Krekel Depot could be moved across the street to function as the skate rental facility and to serve hot chocolate and specialty coffees on cold winter nights. This type of attraction would be such a novel idea as there is only one other like it in the United States at present. The citizens have to start making their opinions known on these and other issues before it is too late! We have very little of O'Fallon historical structures left, once it is gone...it is gone!
