Military Service

Real versus Fake time any difference?

I just read an article that points to military service as real or draftee.  The author, name withheld to protect the guilty, states that there is two kinds of service.  Real Service, the kind where you volunteer, and draftee, where you are ordered into a particular branch.

I got news for all of you.  Ain't no such thing.  All service time is real.  If you are a draftee, or volunteer you still serve the same branch with the same dumb officers.  The only difference is how you got into that branch of service not is the time real or not.  I fault the arm chair generals and the people who think you must keep your self esteem high for the difference.

In any branch of the service there is only that branch of the service.  For example if you join the Army, no matter how you joined, you are part of the Army from now until Michael calls you home.  You will be kept on the rolls of the service as Army trained, Army conditioned and Army ready until there is no more need of a military, plus 100 years.

The same is true for the Navy, Air Force, and Marines.  As a matter of fact look at Arlington Cemetery.  We have folks from all the branches of the military there and they are honored as far back as they can recall.  OK the Revolutionary war, the point is the military do not forget.

As far as Reserves and Active go there is no difference in basic or Advanced Individual Training.  The National Guard get additional training in crowd control but that is the only difference.  All go to the exact same schools, Basic, AIT, NCO Academy, Officer Basic, Officer Advanced, Warrant Basic, Warrant Advanced, as the Active Military soldiers do.  Their only difference is how long it takes to complete the course work.  For Active Duty 30 days at a time.  For Reserves, to include National Guard, up to 1 year for most schools.

Real verses Fake?  Once you are in there is no difference.
