'Bucket List Bandit' Sentenced; Robbed Lindell Bank in 2012

In addition to the O'Fallon bank, Michael E. Brewster robbed 10 other banks across the country.

A judge in Pennsylvania sentenced the "Bucket List Bandit," Michael E. Brewster to 135 months in prison for robbing eleven banks across the country, including the Lindell Bank in O'Fallon.

Brewster was convicted of robbing banks in Colorado, Arizona, Idaho, Utah, Florida, Tennessee and Illinois, and two banks in Missouri, the Landmark Bank in Columbia and the O'Fallon Lindell Bank in 2012. Brewster was eventually arrested during a traffic stop in Oklahoma.

A Utah newspaper came up with the nickname "Bucket List Bandit" because Brewster told the bank teller in the Utah robbery that he had only four months to live, ABC news reported. The FBI then adopted the moniker as they searched for the robber.

In a press release from the Department of Justice, the judge was quoted as saying, "The impetus for the crimes was simply greed, not grief."
