California Dreaming: Man Drops Off Friend, Takes Stolen Car to West Coast
Police say a Wentzville man took a friend to an O'Fallon grocery store in a car that belonged to the friend's grandmother, and was arrested in Beaver County, Utah.
A Wentzville man suddenly developed an urge to drive to California on June 28. The problem was, he had just driven his friend to Aldi’s supermarket in O’Fallon in a car that belonged to his friend’s grandmother, according to O’Fallon Police.
Kevin Bottoms, 20, of the 4000 block of Kellerton Place in Wentzville, was arrested in Beaver County, Utah for driving a car stolen in O'Fallon and stealing gasoline.
Bottoms was charged Oct. 16 in St. Charles County Circuit Court for tampering with a vehicle.

O’Fallon Police said Bottoms drove his friend to in O’Fallon, on June 28 in a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt that belonged to his friend’s grandmother. When his friend entered the store, Bottoms stayed in the vehicle and drove off in the car.
Bail was set at $15,000.
