Fire Destroys Weldon Spring Home on Monday Morning

Cottleville and O'Fallon Fire Fighters responded to the blaze at 752 Cedar Glen Drive at 5:30 a.m.

A family of six is safe on Monday after a fire destroyed their Weldon Spring Home. 

According Cottleville Fire officials, crews responded to the fire at 752 Cedar Glen Drive at 5:30 a.m. Monday, April 8. 

The first arriving crew found heavy fire involvement in the back of the home that extended to the interior. The captain requested a second alarm assignment.

Responding to the scene was Cottleville Fire District, Central County Fire & Rescue, Monarch Fire District and St. Charles County Ambulance District. According to the Cottleville Fire Protection District, it took crews about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. 

All six family members escaped uninjured, but fire officials say the home and most of the contents of the first floor are a total loss.

According to a news release, fire investigators determined the cause of the fire to be accidental, most likely caused by a barbeque grill blown over on the deck by Monday night’s wind.
