Guilty Verdict Returned in Assault of O'Fallon Woman

James Michael Helderle will be sentenced June 27.

James Michael Helderle, 21, of St. Charles, was convicted by a St. Charles County jury last week of first degree burglary, forcible sodomy, felonious restraint and armed criminal action in a case involving an O'Fallon women last December.

Helderle was an employee of CUI Cable prior to the assault and had performed services at the victim's apartment on Dec. 3. On Dec. 4, he was terminated for texting the victim for a date.

On Dec. 5, Helderle entered the 24-year-old O'Fallon woman's apartment, threatened her with a knife and assaulted her.

The St. Charles County court recommended a 75-year sentence, covering all four counts. Sentencing is scheduled for June 27.
