Man Charged With Hitting Deputy During Foot Chase

The accused was on probation for tampering with with a car at the time.

A man faces criminal charges after he struck a law enforcement officer during a foot chase in Aug. 24.

Brandon D. Brown Jr, 20, of the first block of Newberry Drive in St. Charles County south of , was Aug. 28 with assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.

A deputy said in a report that he was chasing Brown on foot near 955 Bryan Road in O’Fallon because Brown had a warrant for his arrest. During the chase, Brown turned and struck the deputy in the chest. The blow caused the deputy to lose his balance, fall and strike his knee on the asphalt, and he nearly was struck by oncoming traffic, the deputy reported.

Brown was on probation after pleading guilty in 2011 to tampering with a vehicle. He also pleaded guilty in March to receiving stolen property.

Bond was set at $50,000.
