O'Fallon Firefighter Honored For Helping Man Shot During Road Rage Incident

O’Fallon Fire Protection District Firefighter Todd Yeager was off-duty when he helped a man who was shot on Bryan Road in May.

One of O'Fallon's own local heroes was recently recognized for his bravery.

O’Fallon Fire Protection District Firefighter Todd Yeager was running errands with his family earlier this summer. When they were stopped in traffic on Bryan Road, Yeager heard a gunshot and a saw a man fall to the ground.

Todd told his wife, Suzanne, to drive their children away from the area so they would be safe, but he remained and provided emergency aid to the man, who was the victim of a road rage incident

Yeager was recently honored at the fifth annual St. Louis Firefighters Ball, where he and his wife were asked to sit at the Backstoppers “Table of Honor."

Later this year, Yeager will be presented a Class III Medal of Valor from the St. Louis County Fire Chiefs Association.

Yeager has been part of the O'Fallon Fire Protection District for 15 years.

"We commend Todd for his outstanding act of valor done selflessly, without hesitation, and without regard to his personal safety," O'Fallon Fire Chief Michael Ballmann said in a news release.

Victim of a road rage incident???? HAHA. I'm pretty sure that the PA said the man was justifiably shot! Not a victim. http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/stcharles/man-shot-in-o-fallon-mo-road-rage-incident-wants/article_d3983faf-137a-5679-9ddd-c6cf5cbb90b8.html
