O'Fallon Man Charged With Setting His Own House on Fire

John Walter Johnson, 51, is being charged with lighting his house on fire at 159 Abington Dr. Sunday morning.

An 51-year-old O'Fallon man is being charged with arson after he allegedly set his house ablaze over the weekend, STLtoday.com is reporting.

According to the story, John Walter Johnson, of O'Fallon, admitted to pouring gasoline on clothes and lighting a match inside his home after an arguement with his wife on Sunday morning.

(Johnson) admitted to authorities that he started the fire and did so in order to go to jail, because of a recent argument with his wife ... A witness saw Johnson running from the house and then smoke coming from it shortly afterwards, court documents say.
