Police Crack Down on Aggressive Driving Leads to 39 Citations

O'Fallon officers will continue to increase their presence to cut down on the number of accidents and deaths caused by aggressive driving.

Looking to crack down on aggresive driving in the city, the O'Fallon Police Department held its first aggresive driving enforcement detail last week at the intersection of Highway K and Highway N.

The effort is part of a new driving safety program aimed at discouraging drivers from aggressive behaviors including, speeding, red light violations and improper lane usage.

The enforcement resulted in 39 total violations, including:

  • 2 tickets issued for red light violations
  • 34 warnings/tickets for improper lane usage
  • 2 warnings/tickets issued for uninsured motorist
  • 1 tickets issued for a seatbelt violation. 

Signs indicating “Aggressive Driving Enforcement” were placed along Highway K to alert drivers. Two separate “spotters” were used to watch for violations and relay those vehicle descriptions to officers on the perimeter. Those perimeter officers then conducted a traffic stop on those violators.

Officers will continue increasing their presence to cut down the number of accidents and deaths caused by aggressive driving.
