O'Fallon Police Interrupt Burglary, Sexual Assault
James M. Helderle, 21, St. Charles is charged with robbery, burglary and forcible sodomy.
A St. Charles man is held on multiple charges after allegedly breaking into a home and sexually assaulting an O'Fallon woman.
The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney's Office issued charges on James M. Helderle, 21 for Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, Forcible Sodomy-Deviant Sexual Intercourse by Forcible Compulsion, Felonious Restraint and Armed Criminal Action on Wednesday.
According to O’Fallon Police, they received a call from a man around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, asking officers to check on his girlfriend.

When officers responded to her home on Southernside Lane, they found the victim who had been bound, gagged and sexually assaulted. According to police, officers interrupted the assault, causing the suspect to flee through the sliding glass door and jump from the second floor balcony.
O'Fallon Police searched the area, found the suspect and took him into custody.

Helderle is being held on a $500,000 dollar bond.
