O’Fallon Police Plan Event to Promote Gun Safety

Officers team up with other local law enforcement agencies on Aug. 16.

The plans to team up with other local law enforcement agencies in August to promote gun safety.

Residents are invited to the Gun Lock Give-Away Event on Thursday, Aug. 16 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

O’Fallon Police Officers will be located at the , 2650 Tri Sports Drive and , 975 West Terra distributing free gun locks.

Locks will be provided, and officers will provide demonstrations if necessary. Police ask that no firearms be brought to the event.

Lt. Michael Grawitch, of the O’Fallon Police Department, said local law enforcement agencies have been planning this event for nine months in hopes of promoting safe firearm storage for all gun owners.

Grawitch added that the O’Fallon Police Department also offers free gun-locks to residents each day during business hours in the records division.

Records division hours are: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday - Friday; 7 a.m. -7 p.m. on municipal court evenings.
