O'Fallon Police, Employees Raise More Than $5,800 for Special Olympics
Polar Bear Plunge participants at Lake St. Louis raised nearly $90,000 to benefit athletes in the Special Olympics.
Volunteers dressed as Elmo, Batman and zoo animals braved the cold for a good cause and a good time at the Polar Bear Plunge in Lake Saint Louis on Saturday afternoon. A total of 449 participants took the plunge and raised $89,900 to benefit athletes of the Special Olympics.
Team O'Fallon, comprised of O'Fallon Police officers and city employees, raised more than $5,800 this year. Awards were given for best costumes and top money raising law enforcement agency.
O'Fallon Court Administrator Jeff Chapple took second place as the Highest Individual Fundraiser, collecting more than $2,500. O'Fallon Detective Lt. John Neske, who was dressed as Spock , took Second Place Golden Plunger Award for Best Individual Costume.

The St. Charles City Police took the Top Fundraiser Award in the Law Enforcement category raising more than $7,900.
Those interested in supporting the Special Olympics can still make donations at O’Fallon City Hall or on the Special Olympics Web site for the next month.
