O'Fallon Police Host Public Safety Day

See law enforcement equipment up close and learn about safety at the O'Fallon Police Department on Saturday.

The hosts their third annual Community-Oriented Public Safety (COPS) Day, at the police department from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday.

"It's a full family event of entertainment centered around safety," O'Fallon Officer David Goewert told O'Fallon Patch. Goewert said the event event focuses on the different areas of public safety, from the the SWAT team to Neighborhood Watch.

During the free event, O’Fallon Police officers will provide department tours, K-9 demonstrations and a variety of other interactive presentations on Saturday. Attendees will also have the opportunity to see a helicopter from St. Louis Metropolitan Air Support, SWAT team equipment, fire trucks and more.

Kids’ activities include face painting, pony rides and an inflatable jump house. Goewert said the first 400 children signed up for a certified children's safety program will receive a list of events to complete. Upon completion, the kids will receive an O'Fallon Police Department certificate and a backpack filled with school supplies. 

Backstoppers merchandise will be available for purchase, along with snowcones, hamburgers, hotdogs and chips for $2 donations.

Goewert said proceeds from the sales will go to Backstoppers and the police activity committee.
