Update: Police Find O'Fallon Man Found Dead Under Bridge

O'Fallon Police are investigating the death of Kent Gerst, 24, O'Fallon, who was reported missing and later found on Sunday.

An O'Fallon man was found dead under a bridge on Sunday night.

According to police, Kent Gerst, 24, O'Fallon, was reported missing in the 1300 block of Turtle Creek at 5:51 p.m. on Sunday after he did not return home on Saturday night.

said he was last seen on Saturday, Sept. 8 in the area of West Terra Lane and Peruque Crossing Court. Officers checked the area on Sunday and found Gerst dead, at 10:41 p.m., under the Peruque Creek Bridge.

According to police, the Medical Examiner’s Office responded and took custody of the victim, and police are continuing their investigation into the victim’s activities prior to being found.

Gerst's listed Wheaton, IL, as his hometown on his Facebook page. According to Baseball-Reference.com, Gerst was a  student who was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2006.
