Police: O'Fallon Mother Uses Heroin in Front of Children

There also was an uncapped, used hypodermic needle sitting between the two children, police said. The woman was charged with four counts of child endangerment.

An O’Fallon woman faces criminal charges after police said she used heroin in front of her 4- and 6-year-old children Wednesday.

April Cronin, 28, of the 900 block of Winged Foot Drive in O’Fallon, was charged Thursday with two counts of first-degree child endangerment and two counts of second-degree child endangerment.

St. Louis County Police said Cronin and a driver were in the front seat of a car when she used heroin at about 12:40 p.m. Wednesday at 8007 West Florissant Road in Jennings.

Cronin’s 4- and 6-year-old children were in the back seat. St. Louis County prosecutors charged her with first-degree endangerment for that action.

Police also said there was an uncapped, used hypodermic needle in the backseat between the two unrestrained children, prompting the two second-degree charges.

Bail for Cronin was set at $20,000.
