Update: Man's Body Found in Cuivre River

Search now in the hands of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department.

A body, that authorities believe to be a missing O'Fallon man, was found in the Cuivre River early Friday morning, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Roger Gaedike, 49, of , since 4 a.m. on the Fourth of July. He was heading out to the Cuivre River near Moscow Mills to hunt for arrowheads. That location is roughly 20 miles northwest of O'Fallon.

According to the Lincoln County Journal, rescue crews began searching for Gaedike at 3:15 a.m. on Thursday. Those crews , according to the Post-Dispatch's story, suspended their efforts at about 3 p.m. the same day after crews on the ground and in the air searched more than five square miles.

The case is now in the hands of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department.

The Lincoln County Journal reported Thursday morning that no foul play is suspected. However, the Post-Dispatch's latest report quotes Barry Nuss, the public information officer for the Lincoln County fire district, as saying, "Maybe something else is going on here that needs to be looked into, not assuming or implying anything. We've searched and we can't find him."
