Special Delivery: Drug Task Force Delivers Package, Arrests Recipient

The U.S. Postal Service issued a warrant on the package and identified it as containing high-grade marijuana.

A St. Louis County man was arrested after the U.S. Postal Service found a package bound for contained 2¼ pounds high-grade marijuana.

Lorenzo D. Carter, of the 2300 block of Rockdale in St. Louis County, was charged Friday in St. Charles County Circuit Court with attempting to distribute marijuana.

A report said a postal inspector told them a federal warrant had been issued for a package addressed to a home in the 500 block of Lake Drive in O’Fallon.

Task force detectives had the package delivered to the address. Once the package was accepted, they executed the search warrant.

Detectives learned that the person receiving the package was to contact Carter once the box arrived, according to the report. Detectives had the person call Carter and he came to take the package shortly afterwards and was arrested.

A task force detective said when law officials also found marijuana in Carter’s possession, a loaded .40 cal Sig Sauer semi-automatic pistol in his car’s glove box, and a partially smoked marijuana cigarette in the center console.

Bond was set at $25,000 cash only.
