It is encouraging that efforts are being made to curb domestic assault. It is important that we do everything possible to fully implement and enforce the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). April is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It is very important that the public become aware of domestic and sexual violence every month.

As an addenda to my previous post I must mention that the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) provides that women do not bear the cost of obtaining protection orders. Also, those protection orders will be recognized and enforced nationwide. Every woman should educate herself on the provisions of VAWA. The more that women exercise their rights, the more successful the reduction in domestic and sexual violence against women will be.
