Previous story:

One person was killed in a head-on collision during a four-vehicle crash early Monday morning in St. Peters.

St. Peters Police are the fatal car crash, which occurred early Monday morning at approximately 6:15 AM. St. Peters Police Officers responded to the area of Salt River Road just west of Silvers Road for multiple vehicles involved in a crash.

According to St. Peters police, the initial investigation at the scene revealed a white 2004 Monte Carlo was travelling westbound on Salt River Road and three other vehicles were travelling eastbound Salt Rivers Road (Chevy Trailblazer, GMC Sonoma, and a Kia Soul).

The driver of the Monte Carlo crossed the centerline for reasons that are still unknown. The Monte Carlo then clipped a Chevy Trailblazer travelling eastbound on Salt River Road. A family member took the female driver of the Trailblazer to the hospital where she was diagnosed with minor injuries.

After clipping the Trailblazer, the Monte Carlo then struck the second vehicle, a GMC Sonoma, causing that vehicle to rollover. The male driver of the Sonoma was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital and is being released with minor injuries.

The Monte Carlo then struck the third vehicle travelling eastbound on Salt Rivers Road and the male driver was airlifted to Mercy Hospital. At this time, his injuries are unknown.

The driver of the Monte Carlo was transported by ambulance to Barnes-Jewish St. Peters where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver was a 27-year-old white male. Police are withholding his name pending notification of family members.

At this time, St. Peters Police do not suspect drugs and/or alcohol were involved in the crash.

Traffic Accident Reconstruction Officers are still at the scene and Salt Rivers Road is closed while they investigate the scene.
