Assumption School to Add Classrooms

O'Fallon City Council approved a conditional use permit to allow the school to begin construction.

plans to make room for more students in O’Fallon.

The school, located on North Main Street and West Third Street, serves both the and St. Barnabas parishes and offers a Catholic education to students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade.  

The school is located right behind Assumption Parish and opened just one week after the church dedication in 1871.

approved a conditional use permit to allow Assumption to begin construction to expand, at the March 22 meeting.

Assumption Director of Administration James Hager presented the plan to the council during a public hearing at the meeting.

He said the plan includes a two-story, 14-classroom addition.

According to the Planning and Zoning Commission report, Assumption is responding to the overcrowding they are experiencing in their existing facilities.

O’Fallon Planning and Development Director David Woods said the plan is to tear down a portion of the existing school and add on a new building.
