O'Fallon Councilman Has Head Shaved to Help Raise Playground Funds

Jeff Schwentker got buzzed in the middle of a work session to fulfill a promise after Unlimited Play sold $35,000 in raffle tickets.

Councilman Jeff Schwentker, Ward 4, had his head shaved in the midst of an O’Fallon City Council work session.

Schwentker promised to shave his head if Unlimited Play and volunteers sold $35,000 in raffle tickets for a big screen television. The funds will help pay for Brendan’s Playground, the city’s planned all-inclusive play area.

“I probably spoke too soon,” Schwentker said, and laughed. “I didn’t think they’d sell all those tickets in this economy.”

Councilman Rick Lucas, Ward 2, joked, “He used to have such pretty hair, too.”

Last February, Mayor Bill Hennessy also had his hair and mustache shaved to help raise funds for the playground.
