Local Boy Scouts Build Benches For O'Fallon's Veterans Memorial Walk

Joshua Anderson and Logan Funderburk were honored by the O'Fallon City Council on Dec. 13.

Two local Boy Scouts recently helped make O'Fallon's Veterans Memorial Walk a more comfortable place for visitors

Joshua Anderson and Logan Funderburk, of Scout Troop 858 Boone Trails Chapter, constructed benches for the walk as part of their Eagle Scout Service Project.

Mayor Bill Hennessy presented the scouts with a proclamation honoring them for their "thoughtfulness for others" in planning and building the benches.

"It will enhance the Veterans Memorial Walk by providing comfort to visitors for many years," Hennessy said at the City Council meeting on Dec. 13.

Chairman of the O'Fallon Veterans Commission Sheldon Hartsfield also thanked Joshua and Logan.

"We know that a lot of people like to visit our memorial on a daily basis," he said. "People like to come in there and have lunch, sit down and reflect, and what these gentleman have done is provide a comfortable place for people."
