New O'Fallon City Administrator Passed Up Higher-Paying Job

The Massachusetts town was finalizing a contract for Therrien when they heard she'd be taking the O'Fallon post.

The Cape Cod Times reported today that O'Fallon's new city administrator, Bonnie Therrien, was a also a candidate for a position as town administrator in Harwich, Massachusetts.

The town's Board of Selectmen chose Therrien after a five-month search and was in the process of finalizing her contract when the announcement was made that she had accepted the position in O'Fallon.

The town administrator position in Massachusetts was advertised at a salary of $130,000 to $150,000.

The city of O'Fallon announced their choice in a press release Monday. A story in the Post-Dispatch reported that Therrien's salary in O'Fallon would be about $123,000.

Harwich will now start their selection process over again, but at least one of the selectmen was philosophical about the inconvenience.

"There must have been something there she liked," Angelo La Mantia told the Cape Cod Times reporter.
