O'Fallon Utility Tax Rebate Program Open Until May 31

Seniors and disabled residents have until May 31 to apply for gas, electric and phone rebates.

The application period for O'Fallon's utility tax rebate program for seniors and disabled residents is open until Tuesday, May 31.

O'Fallon offers rebates on taxes paid on gas, electricity and home phone and cell phone service between in 2011.

The program is open to O’Fallon residents who meet income guidelines, are age 65 or older, and residents who have been determined by the Social Security Administration to be completely disabled.

Residents may file from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

To qualify by income, seniors and completely disabled residents must have an annual adjusted gross income that does not exceed or is less than:

  • $38,95 00 for a single person
  • $44,500 for a married (two-person) household.
  • Social Security income is not counted.

Residents seeking rebates must file in person at City Hall, where city staff will be available to assist with calculations of reimbursable taxes. Residents must bring:

  • A photo ID showing your O’Fallon address (driver’s license, state ID or passport). 
  • Copies of 2011 bills for gas, electricity, phone service and cell phone service; bills must show an O’Fallon addressA copy of your 2011 federal income tax return
  • For the disabled only, proof of Social Security disability

Residents interested in filing must pick up a rebate form at City Hall or download one from the city’s website.
