Ward 5's Snowden Resigns from City Council

Snowden was first appointed to the O'Fallon City Council seat in January 2012.

Ward 5 Councilman Michael Snowden resigned from the O'Fallon City Council at Thursday night's meeting.

Snowden said that he had accepted a job with a new employer and that his last board meeting would be September 15.

"This announcement is very bittersweet for me, because I absolutely love being a councilman and helping my constituents with issues they may have,” Snowden said at the meeting.

"I’ve made many friends in the city of O’Fallon and I consider myself a lucky man to know each and every one of you."

Snowden added that he felt the city council was doing great work and that the city had a top-notch staff.

Snowden was appointed to the Ward 5 seat in January 2012 after the resignation of Mark Perkins. Snowden ran to retain the seat in the April 2013 election and won with 45 percent of the vote.
