Book Review: 'Michael Vey: Prisoner of Cell 25'

Aside from the fantastic plot, the book is full of life lessons that kids all over the country are discovering.

A new book has hit the shelves and it is fantastic!  Michael Vey: Prisoner of Cell 25 is about a 14-year-old boy with Tourrettes who on the surface appears to be your average teenage kid trying to make his way through life.

But there is something special about Michael.  He has special powers; electrical powers. What's more is he soon discovers that he's not the only one with these powers. To make things more exciting, a powerful group has taken an interest in all of the kids that have these powers and wants to control them.  They want to use these kids to eventually control the world!

Aside from the fantastic plot, the book is full of life lessons that kids all over the country are discovering. And teachers throughout the country are using the book to teach these lessons in their classrooms.

For example, when the book's antagonist tries to win over the affections of the children with expensive gifts and a lavish lifestyle, the children have to come to terms with materialism and how far they are willing to allow it to affect their lives.

At first, publishers weren't interested in the book. But after the author, Richard Paul Evans began publishing it himself and it sold out, publishers were scrambling to his door begging for the chance to publish it!  After only three days it was in it's sixth printing.

And it isn't just kids that love the book. Adults everywhere are reading it as well.  It may not be content appropriate for younger readers. I'll leave that for parents to decide.
