Giant Tree That Shouldn't Be

Writing a blog is kind of fun. Sometimes your story gets published, other times not.  One thing I've noticed is that blogs that simply rant about stuff don't often get published.

But I have a complaint that I hope the editor will publish. It's about a giant fake tree in O'Fallon. Everyone knows what I'm talking about. It looks like someone took a giant eyelash brush and jammed it upright into the ground right off of Mexico road.

It looks horrible from a distance and even worse up close. What is the reason for this "tree"? Does it commemorate something? Did the city put this up? If so, how much did it cost?  It's a terrible eye sore!  Or maybe I'm the only one who feels this way? I'd like to find out.
