Please Take Care of Your Pets!

Frustration with animal control.

My 13-year old came home today in the early evening and there was a stray cat on our front porch.  We know it used to be a house cat because it didn't have any front claws.  It was skin and bones with open wounds on its body.  It didn't have a collar.

My daughter called Petsmart to ask what to do.  Petsmart said to call Animal Control.  Animal Control said to call Critter Control.  Critter Control said to call Animal Control.  When my daughter epressed her frustration, Critter Control said, "Well, she's on your property so she's your problem."

Really?!  So does Critter Control want us to dump this cat on the highway and then call them and say, "The cat is not on our property anymore.  Please come get it."?  Plus, we have a German Shepherd that would make this poor cat a snack so we had no way adopting it.

So we called the animal hospital and they said to bring it in, fill out some paperwork and they would take care of it.  They promised they would not euthanize the cat.

Since I'm the type of person that is either very happy with life or totally pissed-off at the idiots of the world, I'm pissed-off.

One, I'm pissed-off at people who don't take care of their pets.  If one of my pets got out of the house by mistake, signs would be up everywhere with pictures and my phone number written in big, bold numbers.

Secondly, I'm pissed-off that Animal Control and Critter Control don't know their butt's from a hole in the ground.  Shouldn't you guys know what the other is doing?
