I used to work for a school district that was pretty far from my house. I hated the daily shlep. It was painful getting up every morning knowing I was going to be sitting in traffic on my way to Wildwood.
So, I decided I would try to get a job on this side of the river. I interviewed with Fort Zumwalt and eventually with Dr. Corum who is in charge of hiring teachers. However, she felt that I needed to "get to know the culture of Fort Zumwalt a little better". I guess working in Rockwood for 17 years was too much high culture for her tastes.
Every now and then I'll read in the news about some of the really scary stuff that happens in this district. All of this is public information so I'll cite my sources if anyone's interested.
One of my professors at Lindenwood was an administrator in Fort Zumwalt but just after leaving the district to be an administrator for another district, he decided to stalk a teacher and got arrested. He quit and moved away. http://business.highbeam.com/435553/article-1G1-141653877/wentzville-schools-chief-faces-sex-charge
An assistant football coach at West High was arrested for having sex with a student. http://www.ksdk.com/news/crime/story.aspx?storyid=191361
And of course the most recent news, a Fort Zumwalt West Middle School teacher was arrested for suspected child porn.http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/stcharles/fort-zumwalt-teacher-accused-of-taping-students-as-they-undressed/article_58f42ed4-beef-11e1-8120-001a4bcf6878.html. These are just a few examples.
I wonder if this is the "culture" Patty Corum is so proud of?
