SCC to host 21st annual RUN. LIVE. LEARN. race and health event April 27

Runners and health enthusiasts should mark their calendars for the 21st annual RUN. LIVE. LEARN. race and health event set for Saturday, April 27, on the campus of St. Charles Community College.

Runners and health enthusiasts of all ages should mark their calendars for the 21st annual RUN. LIVE. LEARN. race and health event set for Saturday, April 27, on the campus of St. Charles Community College. The event is a morning of recreation, health, education and fun and features a new educational twist.

Once again featured at RUN. LIVE. LEARN. will be the popular 10K Race (6.2 miles), 5K Race (3.1 miles) and Fun Run.

New this year, one runner will win a $1,000 scholarship to SCC.  Entrants in the 5K and 10K races (ages 18 and older) will be automatically entered into a drawing for the scholarship.  “The organizing committee is excited to promote the value of higher education by offering the $1,000 scholarship,” said Heather McDorman, vice president for marketing and communications and co-chair of the event. “We promise lots of fun ways for our runners and guests to celebrate fitness and education this year.”

The entry fee for the Fun Run is $15; late registration after April 19 is $20, including race-day registration.  Entry for the 10K and 5K races is $20; late registration after April 19 is $25, including race-day registration.  The entry fee includes a dry-tec T-shirt, refreshments and entries into prize basket drawings.  The overall male and female winner of the 5K will each take home a $50 cash prize and overall male and female winners in the 10K will receive a $100 prize.

The Health and Wellness Expo is free and open to the public from 8-11 a.m. in the Student Center, including nearly 50 exhibit booths with health and wellness information, screenings and product samples.  Participants can test their fitness, learn how to take care of mind and body and get health and safety tips.

Helping to make this event possible are the Gold Sponsors: Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital & Progress West Healthcare, Central Methodist University, Mulligan Printing, Precision Health Group, and STLToday.com; Silver Sponsor: SSM St. Joseph Health Center & Hospital West; and Bronze Sponsors: Crosby Chiropractic Centre and Missouri American Water.

The 10K and 5K races begin at 7:30 a.m., and the 1-Mile Fun Run starts at 9:15 a.m. between the entrances to the Red and Green parking lots on campus. Each event will feature age group awards. All individual fun run finishers will receive ribbons.

There will be free refreshments courtesy of local food stores and restaurants.  Precision Health Group will provide music at the start/finish line and Missouri American Water Company will provide water stations for the runners.
