Recognized author and activist Erin Merryn and other local professionals will educate and inform on child abuse prevention April 16-19, at St. Charles Community College, in observance of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Events will be held in the auditorium of the Social Sciences Building on the college’s campus and are free and open to the public.

Erin Merryn, author and activist, will speak about her own experience of being sexually assaulted and raped as a child. Merryn is the author of the books, “Stolen Innocence” and “Living for Today,” both about incest and rape. She is the force behind passing her own law, “Erin’s Law,” which will educate children in Illinois public schools on sexual abuse. She has made numerous media appearances, including “Oprah” and “Good Morning America,” and in 2011 she spoke at the U.S. Department of Education’s national conference.
