GIS/GPS Mapping Workshop

Mid America TEEN CERT and the University of Illinois will host a GIS/GPS Mapping Workshop, Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. til noon at Fort Zumwalt North High School Auditorium, 1230 Tom Ginnever Avenue, O'Fallon, MO 63366.

The workshop is FREE to anyone 12 years and older, who want to learn about geospatial technology when working with disaster preparedness.

Susan Hayden from the University of Illinois Extension, will discuss Geographic Information and Global Positioning Systems and introduce you to alerting, evacuation and sheltering in the event of an earthquake or other disaster.

Participants will experience using GPS units, collecting data, marking waypoints, navigating to a location, and GIS software to map information collected using GPS, and/or multiple data layers to showcase desired information.
