According to Corum, students selected for the program receive $3,000 a semester for their college education and the support of a mentor from the.

Each participant in the GYOT program must return to the Fort Zumwalt School District upon completion of their certification and teach for at least four years.

There are currently seven student recipients of the GYOT program, studying at three Missouri universities.

Corum said Taste of Fort Zumwalt is one of the largest fundraisers, bringing in between $7,000-8,000 each year.

The event is organized by Fort Zumwalt teachers, parents and administrators.
