Fort Zumwalt South Seniors Honored for 'Academic Decathlon'

Christopher Walsh and Kyle Krull, both seniors at Fort Zumwalt South High School, were selected as honorable mentions in the 2013 Missouri Scholars 100.

Fort Zumwalt South High Principal Kevin Keltner announced that two of the school's seniors, Kyle Kruss and Christopher Walsh, have been honored in the 2013 Missouri Scholars 100, a program sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals.

Both Keltner and Walsh were given "honorable mention" status in the program, which honors 100 of Missouri's top academic students in the Class of 2013.

Candidates are nominated from across the state, based on a formula that uses the student's grade-point average and ACT or SAT score.

  • ACT score of 29 or SAT score of 1900
  • Ranked in upper 10 percent of class
  • Upper level courses in math, science, English and foreign language
  • Excellent attendance
  • Citizenship
  • Involvement in school activities

"Students who are selected to this program have taken a rigorous course of study and have maintained the highest academic standards," MASS Executive Director Jim L. King said in a press release. "The Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals wants to celebrate the achievement and success of these students and their schools."
