Community Living, Inc. Hosts 13th Annual Legacy Ball

Gala event will raise funds to support CLI's work to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities and recognize a pair of local leaders.

Community Living, Inc. (CLI) is once again preparing to “UNMASK” and honor the remarkable contributions made by a pair of local leaders to those with disabilities in the St. Charles Community during its 13th annual Legacy Ball event, set for Jan. 26 at Old Hickory Golf Club in St. Peters, Mo. The special fundraising gala kicks off at 6 p.m., and will feature a wine dinner, oral and silent auctions, live music from the band Stir Crazy!, and the presentation of the 13th annual Community Living Legacy and Community Volunteer of the Year awards. Proceeds from the ball, which is one of St. Charles County’s premier gala events, benefit over 800 individuals and their families that are served by CLI.

Matt Johannesman, Regional President for Carrollton Bank, has been selected as the 2013 recipient of the Community Living Legacy Award. The St. Charles native is being recognized for his ongoing service to CLI and a variety of other community organizations throughout St. Charles County. In addition to serving on CLI’s Board of Directors, his other volunteer efforts include serving as President-elect for Birthright of St. Charles, Treasurer of the St. Charles County Housing Corporation and Past-Chairman of the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce.

During the gala, CLI will also present its Community Volunteer of the Year Award to Judge Daniel Pelikan. Elected Associate Circuit Judge in 1998 and 2002, Circuit Judge in 2006 and 2012, and having just completed a six-year term as the primary juvenile judge for St. Charles County, he also presides over jury trials for criminal felony and civil cases. He is being recognized by CLI for his dedicated efforts to protect the welfare of area youth and help make the region a better place to live. His wealth of volunteer work includes time serving as board chairman for the Children’s Trust Fund of Missouri and United Services for the Handicapped. He is also a member of the Missouri Bar Board of Governors, national and local Eagle Scout Associations, the Boys and Girls Club of St. Charles County and the St. Charles Rotary Club.

“The Legacy Ball is one of the most distinctive and sophisticated fundraising galas in St. Charles County, and this year, we look forward to having the opportunity to celebrate the incredible contributions of Matt Johannesman and Judge Daniel Pelikan,” said Barb Griffith, President and CEO of Community Living, Inc. “With this event playing such an important role in generating critical funding to help our organization continue its work to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities in St. Charles County, we invite and encourage members of the community to make plans to enjoy an elegant night out for a good cause.”

Tickets for the ball are available by calling Barbara James, Annual Giving Coordinator, at (636) 970-2800. Single seats are $100 each, while tables of 10 can be purchased for $1,000. A number of sponsorship and advertising opportunities are also available. For information on tickets, sponsorships, and other general event details, visit www.cliservices.org.

When she returns she'll still be here, but in a different role.Read More Instead of just working with O'Fallon, she'll be working with multiple Patch sites across St. Louis.
