Cardinals Draft Zumwalt West's Zach Loraine

Zach Loraine graduated from Fort Zumwalt West High School in 2009.

Zach Loraine, Fort Zumwalt West Class of '09, has been drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals.

Loraine was picked in the 21st round of the MLB draft.

Loraine, after graduating from West High School, went on to play baseball for Lindenwood University. He then transferred to Coker College in South Carolina, where he pitched for the Coker Cobras and was a designated hitter, Westplex Sports reported Saturday.

Loraine has a 92-mph fastball and while at Coker University, had a batting average of .328.

According to SCNow Morning News out of South Carolina, Loraine will play with the Card's farm team, the Johnson City Cardinals, in Tennessee starting June 20.
