New Morning Star Yoga Classes Start January 2012

As the calendar year winds down and the New Year begins, it's natural to think about ways for self-improvement. Morning Star Church is offering three different eight-week yoga classes starting on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012. Dede Schreiner, certified yoga instructor, leads all 75-minute classes, which are open to all levels. The $72 series are offered at Morning Star Church (1600 Feise Road, Dardenne Prairie, Mo 63368). Drop-in rate is $10 per session.

Yoga Flow (Wednesdays, 9 a.m.) Designed for those desiring to begin a regular Yoga practice or deepen an existing practice. Linking breath with movement, this fun flowing class will keep the heart rate elevated, improve balance, build stamina and re-energize all systems of the body. Includes standing and seated poses and a time of peaceful rest and meditation.

Slow Yoga Flow (Wednesdays, 12 p.m.) A mindful, slow flow with attention to deep breathing and alignment. Excellent for developing core strength, muscular strength, flexibility and stress reduction. Students develop skills of concentration and patience that help focus the mind in moving meditation.

Restorative Yoga (Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m.) Open to all who want to relax deeply. Ideal for those chronically stressed. Experience how Yin-style stretching, deep breathing and Christian meditation combine to build strength, calm the mind, and uplift the spirit. Props such as blankets, bolsters and blocks are used as a support for the body to bring about peaceful relaxation. Childcare is available for $5 for evening class only with early registration.
