Friday Night Spotlight: Football Regular Season Comes to an End

Zumwalt East faces Warrenton, Zumwalt South takes on Vianney and Howell Central plays Jackson.

Week 9 is here and it's the last week of the regular season. Teams will get one more shot to make a change to the playoff standings. Let's see what games are going down for the St. Peters schools.

Fort Zumwalt East (6-2) vs. Warrenton (2-6) at 7 p.m.

Fort Zumwalt East bounced back from a Week 7 loss with a big Week 8 win. The Lions currently sit in second place in the Class 5, District 3 standings and a win on Friday against Warrenton would help lock up that spot.

The Lions will be taking on a team with a 2-6 record that scores a lot of point, but also gives up a lot. On the year, Warrenton has scored 213 points—just 20 points fewer than the Lions—but has surrendered nearly 36 points per game (287 total).

Like the Lions, Warrenton is entering the final game of the regular season coming off a win. In Week 8, the Warriors topped Orchard Farm 35-21.

There's some good news for the Zumwalt South Bulldogs in Week 9: They're playing a non-conference game. The Bulldogs are 0-4 in conference action, but 4-0 away from the GAC Central.

South will hit the road to close out the regular season against Vianney. The Bulldogs have scored just 189 points this year (23.7 per game), but that could go up on Friday. Way up.

Vianney has been abysmal defensively. The Griffins are allowing a staggering 43.6 points per game (349 points total).
