O'Fallon Christian Boys End Season With Heads Held High

Another impressive season for the O'Fallon Christian boys basketball team includes a district title.

Another impressive season for the boys basketball team concluded this week. The Eagles lost to Elsberry (25-4) in a Class 3 sectional game, 51-42, on Wednesday night at Moberly Area Community College.

Still, O’Fallon Christian finished 19-9 and will have high hopes again going into its offseason as Christian coach Dave Meers will lose only three seniors to graduation. The Eagles went 21-6 last season and have emerged as a proven force among the area’s numerous Independent teams.

Meer’s club captured the district championship on March 5 with a resounding 73-52 victory in the Class 3 District 8 title game against Winfield. Senior guard Andrew Frank poured in 27 in that contrast, while shooting 12-for-18 from the field. Frank finished his final season with averages of 11.8 points, 3.4 assists and 2.2 steals per game.

The Eagles’ leading scorer this season was junior forward Adam Glenville at 16.8 points per game. Glenville also led his team in free throws made and 3-pointers, and also averaged 7 rebounds per game. Senior forward Blake Meers averaged 15 points per game and shot 59.5 percent. Meers also led the team in rebounding (7.3 per game) and blocks at 3.2 per contest.

Although Christian will play as a Missouri Independent again next season, the Eagles will join the Archdiocesan Athletic Association beginning with the 2012-13 school year.
