Sports Report: Football and Soccer Ready for the Postseason

The week of Oct. 31 is jam packed with must-see games all around St. Charles County.

This week should be an interesting one for St. Charles County high schools.

Most boys soccer playoffs start Monday, football playoffs start Wednesday and, to top it all off, practice can offically begin for wrestling and basketball on Monday. 

It's going to be a busy week full of big games. Let's take a look what's on tap, starting with the soccer pitch.

Soccer

The Class 3, District 5 Tournament at Fort Zumwalt South High School will pit five local teams against each other.  is the top seed for the tourney and has a first round bye. The Bulldogs will face the winner of the tourney opener—either or . The two Norths will battle at 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. 

The other teams in the tournament are Francis Howell Central and . The championship of the tournament will take place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3.

The Class 2, District 7 Tournament started on Saturday with  taking on Warrenton. The Pirates handed the . The Pirates will now take on  at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Charles West. 

The winner of that game will face the winner of the  vs.  game. The Warriors and Pioneers will square off at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The championship will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. 

In other action, the Class 3, District 4 Tournament will take place at Fort Zumwalt West. Troy and  will get things started at 4 p.m. on Monday. Francis Howell will be waiting the winner of that match. The other side of the bracket has  facing off with . The championship will be played at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. 

 will take on Winfield at 4 p.m. Monday in the opening game of the Class 1, District 6 Tournament. The other game in the tournament will pit  against Elsberry at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Christian will be the host team for the tourney. 

Football

Fort Zumwalt West, Holt, Fort Zumwalt East, St. Charles West, Duchesne, Orchard Farm and Christian are among the local teams going to the State football playoffs.

Zumwalt West will be competing for the Class 6 title. The Jaguars will face off with Pattonville at 7 p.m. on Friday. 

In Class 5 action, Holt placed second in Class 5, District 4 action. The Indians will face off with Waynesville at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Zumwalt East earned a first round bye and won't take the field until Monday, Nov. 7. The Lions will take on the winner of Wednesday's Camdenton vs. Vianney game.

The Class 4 tourney will have both St. Charles West and Duchesne. If both win their playoff openers, the will face each other in the second round of action. But first, St. Charles West has to beat Jennings. Duchesne will be taking on 10-0 St. Francis Borgia. Both games will start at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. 

Orchard Farm (5-5) will take on North Callaway (6-4) in the Class 3 playoffs. The game will start at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. 

Christian (7-2) will square off with South Callaway (8-2) in the opening of the Class 2 tournament. Once again, that game will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
