St. Dom Wins District Opener Over Warrenton

Jake Wilmes and Grant Nickles supply the offense for Crusaders, while defense shuts out Warrenton in impressive 14-0 win.

ST. DOMINIC HIGH SCHOOL – The undefeated St. Dominic Crusaders raised their season record to 8-0 with a 14-0 victory over visiting Warrenton (MO) High School Friday night at Crusader Stadium.

Junior Jake Wilmes scored on a short touchdown run in the third quarter to get the Crusaders on the board. Then senior Grant Nickles added a short scoring run of his own in the final minutes to put the game away, as St. Dominic moved to 1-0 in district play. Warrenton, which is now 1-7 this season, fell to 0-1.

Friday’s contest was a defensive battle for both ballclubs, as neither team could muster much offense until St. Dom finally found its footing in the second half.
