Finger-Licking Food, Fun Found at BCI's Wing Ding

BCI's Wing Ding event to offer loads of all-you-can-eat chicken wings from 16 local restaurants on Thursday at T.R. Hughes Ball Park.

Chicken wings anyone?

The 14th Annual BCI Wing Ding returns to the area Thursday at T.R. Hughes Ball Park and is set to offer up loads of all-you-can-eat chicken wings for sampling from local restaurants.

More than a dozen restaurants will compete in the competition and provide guests with tastes of their best food during the event from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Four new restaurants join the ranks this year, said event coordinator Karen Bryner, with Bobby’s Place, Lloyd & Harry’s, and St. Louis Wing Company ready to make their Wing Ding debut.

Returning competitors include 2011 “Best Wings” champ Quintessential Dining and Nightlife from St. Charles and Ballyhoo, the “Non-Traditional and First-Time Restaurant” award winner.

Entertainment is also set for the evening.

“The Smash Band will be performing the entire event,” Bryner said.  “This event is kind of like a ‘taste-of’ event where there will be different booths for all the restaurants, and people can just browse and sample from all the different stands throughout the night.”

About 3,000 people usually attend the Wing Ding, Bryner said, and it takes a few hundred volunteers to make it all come together.

BCI is a non-profit contract packaging company that provides productive and fulfilling employment opportunities for adults with disabilities, and the Wing Ding is just one of several events throughout the year to help bring awareness and raise funds for their cause.

Tickets for the event can be purchased online at www.bcifoundation.org/events/wing-ding or at participating local eateries listed on the events tab from their main website.

General admission prices run $30 in advance or $35 the day of the event, which will get patrons unlimited wings and two beverage tickets.

All-inclusive tickets run $60 and include unlimited wings and beverages with a souvenir cup. VIP tickets are $100 and include all of the all-inclusive amenities plus a private VIP area with wing and beverage service.

The winners of the wing competition will be announced towards the end of the night around 8:30 p.m.
