Football Preview: A Look at Fort Zumwalt North 2012

Coach Joe Bacon enters his fifth season as the head coach for the Panthers.

Last year, the Panthers caputred the GAC North title by completing a 5-0 conference mark. This season the team returns a substantial number of players (7 - Offense, 9 - Defense) on both sides of the ball, while still remaining a relatively young team.

This year the Panthers will compete in the newly alligned GAC Central, which features three Fort Zumwalt schools (North, South, East) in addition to Wentzville Holt and Washington.

As a result of conference reallignment four of North's wins from last season are no longer on the schedule. They will play several bigger schools early on and will need to adjust quickly in order to contend for another conference title. How well they draw on their experience from last season will be a key factor in how much success they can expect in 2012.

Fort Zumwalt North opens the season August 24 - 7 p.m. at home vs. St. Charles West.
