Fort Zumwalt North Athletics Week in Review

Activities Director Ted Hickey recaps what happened last week and what's up next for Fort Zumwalt North athletics.

Football

The Varsity Football team recorded an impressive 21 - 16 victory over Ladue last Saturday. Ladue came into the game sporting a 5 - 2 mark for the season, but it was the Panthers who left the field with the victory, evening their season record to 4 - 4.

The victory put the finishing touches on a great "Homecoming" afternoon celebrated by both current and former students.The team returns to action this Friday (10/19) at Timberland. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

Soccer

The Varsity Soccer team extended their season high winning streak to 6 games by defeating Hazelwood West, Fox, and Fort Zumwalt East during the week! The Fort Zumwalt East game marked the second meeting this season between the two teams. In their previous encounter the Lions defeated the Panthers in a game decided by Penalty Kicks, this time it was the Panthers who returned the favor by defeating the Lions on the final penalty kick. The string of victories had improved the teams overall record to an impressive 12 - 7.

Softball

The Varsity Softball team finished the 2012 season with an overall mark of 20 - 6! The GAC Central Champions has several girls named to the "All-Conference" team including those named to the 1st team: Abby Hlavaty - Pitcher, Lexi Theis - Infield, Sara Sebestyen - Outfield, Taylor Dames - Outfield, Abby Tillotson - Catcher. The Panthers also had two girls named to the second team: Shelby Clark - Pitcher, and Abby Garcia - Infield. Steve Siebert was named "Coach of the Year" for the GAC Central Conference.

Cross Country

The Cross Country team had a great showing at the GAC Central Meet last Thursday. On the boys side Logan Jaggie (4th) and Riley Flynn (11th) earned "All-Conference" status by finishing among the meets top 15 runners. Haily Fink also claimed conference honors by finishing 12th int he girls race. This Saturday the Boys and Girls Cross Country team will compete the District Meet.
