FZN Athletics - Week in Review

Football

The Varsity Football team won its second straight nail-biter on Friday night, when they defeated Mehlville 14 - 8. The defense dominated for a second straight week, holding Mehlville to just one score and under 200 yards of total offense. The Panther's forced 4 turnovers for the second week in a row! Leading tacklers were Killian Sneed, Jeremy Davidson, and Kory Morton.

On the offensive side of the ball, Zach Hillard threw for 119 yards and rushed for 85 yards, pitching in two rushing touchdowns. Deon Lewis ran for 95 yards, and Colin Mueller caught 5 passes for 89 yards.

This Friday the Panthers host Troy at 7 p.m.

Softball

The Varsity Softball team finished the week with a 1 - 1 mark. The team lost an 11 inning heart-breaker to highly ranked Francis Howell on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the team opened conference play with a 9 - 3 victory over the Holt Indians. Standouts at the plate for the Panthers were Abby Garcia (.571), Andrea Gowen (.500), Abby Tillostson (.481), and Taylor Dames (.407).

This week the softball team host Washington (9/5) then travels to Francis Howell Central (9/6) to finish the week.

Cross Country

The Cross Country team competed in their first race of the year last Monday at the Fleet Feet Kick-Off. Senior Logan Jaggie finished in a 3-way tie for 6th place.

The team competes again this Saturday at the Stan Nelson Invitational held on the campus of Northwest High School.

Soccer

The Varsity Soccer team finished 4th in the FZN Invitational. The team defeated Warrenton 1 - 0 in the first round, before dropping a pair of 2 - 1 contests to St.Charles and Ritenour.

The soccer team returns to action this Thursday again Barat Academy.

Boys Swimming

The JV Swim team competed at the McCluer North Relay meet last Friday, where the Panther swimmers earned 1st place honors! Panther swimmers earned 1st place in 5 of the 6 contested events.

Girls Volleyball

The Girls Volleyball opened their season last Monday, falling to St. Charles West in three games. On Thursday the team opened conference play by defeating Holt in three games.

This week volleyball will host Warrenton (9/5) and Fort Zumwalt East (9/6).

Girls Tennis

Chole Steyer (#1 Singles), Hanna Lindley (#2 Singles) scored individual match victories for the Panthers.

Tennis competes against Duchesne (9/4) and Timberland (9/5) on the road, before hosting Barat Academy (9/6) this week.
